Elysian Productions

The production team that we are in is called Elysian Productions. The word Elysian means relating to or characteristic of heaven or paradise, we chose this word as heaven or a paradise is something that we all strive towards, it is a place so perfect that we go through hard times just to get to it. The paradise that we strive towards would be our perfect film and to get that perfect film we might have to go through hard times in the process of making it but that passion is still shown and that's why we are Elysian Productions.

We wanted to create a logo that was simple yet recognisable. We decided we wanted to make a text based logo as most production companies made these.

This was the first attempt at the logo. We wanted the logo to be a window into the film but the colours shown and the gradient applied to the logo made the logo hard to see on a busy background. We needed to make the logo more simple.

This was one of the refinements to the logo. The bright colours allow for almost infinite combinations of complementary colours.

This is the final logo for our production team and we feel it represents our values in filmmaking and our journey to strive for higher quality

Recording Audio

Image
Most of the audio in River was unusable, this was due to the immense wind speed on certain days. This meant that we had to go through each scene and record dubs of the lines spoken by each character. This process didn't take up too much time but it was tedious, we had written down each line that needed to be recorded and we asked our actors to say the line in time with the footage of the scenes. This recording session worked out really well as our actors delivered accurate responses that stayed true to the character's original intentions. We used a field recorder microphone on a tripod to capture the audio. We wrapped a tea towel around the mic to reduce any wind and background noise. Voices turned out to be clear and understandable. All that is left to do is to add these recordings back into the film.

Arrival Movie Poster Inspiration

Image
To attract audiences to watch your film, many marketing practices are used to promote the film. To market our film, we are creating a poster that will show what the film will involve whilst also looking attractive and atmospheric. This is the poster for the film arrival. This film is about the arrival of aliens to earth and the process of asking the question "What is your purpose here?" The film is a Sci-Fi Thriller and I think this poster does a great job at representing the general atmosphere of the film. The poster takes place in the location that most of the film is set in. The imagery of the location shows the alien spaceship in the centre with a helicopter flying towards the spaceship. By using the "Z rule" we can see that the poster shows all of it's most important information and imagery in accordance to this rule. The actor's names appear at the top and this allows the viewer to see who is in the film first before they read the rest of the poste...
