River Editing Progress

0.1 - This is the first edit I created with the footage we shot on our first shooting day. this was before external sound was added and before colour correction was integrated into each shot. 0.2 - This second edit added external sound, colour correction and foley sound that was recorded e.g footsteps. These footsteps turned out to be out of sync and had to be changed in a later revision. The footsteps are also too loud and they don't sound like they are happening in world. I changed the river title sequence to appear differently and changed the timing of each letter's appearance. - 0.3 - This edit added a new scene that was placed before the other scenes I had edited up to this point. This scene does not include the sound effects that should play during the ellipsis. The footstep sync was not fixed in this edit. 0.4 - This edit added a lot of external audio that was missing. Sound effects were added to the ellipsis. 0.5 - This edit included a lot o...

Recording Audio

Image
Most of the audio in River was unusable, this was due to the immense wind speed on certain days. This meant that we had to go through each scene and record dubs of the lines spoken by each character. This process didn't take up too much time but it was tedious, we had written down each line that needed to be recorded and we asked our actors to say the line in time with the footage of the scenes. This recording session worked out really well as our actors delivered accurate responses that stayed true to the character's original intentions. We used a field recorder microphone on a tripod to capture the audio. We wrapped a tea towel around the mic to reduce any wind and background noise. Voices turned out to be clear and understandable. All that is left to do is to add these recordings back into the film.

Dunkirk Poster Inspiration

Image
This is the poster for Dunkirk, this film is about the evacuation of British soldiers from the battle of Dunkirk during the second world war. The first thing we can see about this poster is the colour pallette and how it consists of blue hues. There is almost no other colour than blue in this poster, this shows the bleak atmosphere of this battle and represents the how the world felt during this period. Using the Z-Rule we can see the previous films the critically acclaimed director has made, this lets the viewer know what to expect quality wise with the film. The mid section of the poster features a lone soldier overlooking the chaos, this image seems almost peaceful due to it's melancholic colour scheme and lack of audio. The lone soldier is standing in front of the sea which could be symbolism for the journey into the unknown as the ocean is the most unexplored part of the world. The soldier by himself could represent the audience as they are about to watch this realistic dep...

Arrival Movie Poster Inspiration

Image
To attract audiences to watch your film, many marketing practices are used to promote the film. To market our film, we are creating a poster that will show what the film will involve whilst also looking attractive and atmospheric. This is the poster for the film arrival. This film is about the arrival of aliens to earth and the process of asking the question "What is your purpose here?" The film is a Sci-Fi Thriller and I think this poster does a great job at representing the general atmosphere of the film. The poster takes place in the location that most of the film is set in. The imagery of the location shows the alien spaceship in the centre with a helicopter flying towards the spaceship. By using the "Z rule" we can see that the poster shows all of it's most important information and imagery in accordance to this rule. The actor's names appear at the top and this allows the viewer to see who is in the film first before they read the rest of the poste...
