Test Footage No. 1

We needed to test how we would shoot and edit certain scenes, this would insure that we would have less problems setting the scenes up. These tests also let us get used to certain production equipment.

We did not use the final actors for the film due to time constraints, this footage is only to show how certain scenes play out, we experimented with different camera angles and editing techniques.

We used a Google Pixel 2 for most of the shooting but we did not use external audio as we did not need to test it at the time.
Some of the footage was shot with a camcorder, this proved more difficult to use but had the  advantage of attaching to a tripod. We do have a tripod holder for a smartphone but did not have it with us at the time. 

Overall, the Google Pixel 2 proves to be the highest quality camera we have used. This is due to it's higher capture resolution and smaller form factor. The Pixel 2's camera does not have any modularity in terms of lenses.

Recording Audio

Most of the audio in River was unusable, this was due to the immense wind speed on certain days. This meant that we had to go through each scene and record dubs of the lines spoken by each character. This process didn't take up too much time but it was tedious, we had written down each line that needed to be recorded and we asked our actors to say the line in time with the footage of the scenes. This recording session worked out really well as our actors delivered accurate responses that stayed true to the character's original intentions. We used a field recorder microphone on a tripod to capture the audio. We wrapped a tea towel around the mic to reduce any wind and background noise. Voices turned out to be clear and understandable. All that is left to do is to add these recordings back into the film.

Arrival Movie Poster Inspiration

To attract audiences to watch your film, many marketing practices are used to promote the film. To market our film, we are creating a poster that will show what the film will involve whilst also looking attractive and atmospheric. This is the poster for the film arrival. This film is about the arrival of aliens to earth and the process of asking the question "What is your purpose here?" The film is a Sci-Fi Thriller and I think this poster does a great job at representing the general atmosphere of the film. The poster takes place in the location that most of the film is set in. The imagery of the location shows the alien spaceship in the centre with a helicopter flying towards the spaceship. By using the "Z rule" we can see that the poster shows all of it's most important information and imagery in accordance to this rule.
