Filming Waking Up Scene

Today, we filmed the scene of the Ferryman meeting up and introducing himself to the recently deceased Kevin. Ryan O'Neill was directing the shots, Ciaran Hines was recording audio for the scenes, Eoin McCoy was filming with the Google Pixel 2 on the steadicam and the tripod. I was incharge of telling the actors what lines they were saying in the scene and also showing the director what shot from the storyboard we were shooting. In the beginning this filming day was productive but the weather began to worsen as we were filming as the wind picked up and the rain began to fall. The temperature also began to affect the production as the actors were visibly uncomfortable and impatient due to the cold air. We had to wrap up this day very early as we were all affected by the cold and dreary weather. Some of the shots that we had filmed looked rushed when I was looking back at them and they needed to be filmed again. On the other hand, the shots that looked great gave us motivation as we liked the direction this production was going in. It was clear that some audio would have to be re recorded as the wind was to great for our microphone.

Below are some of my favourite shots from this day.

Recording Audio

Image
Most of the audio in River was unusable, this was due to the immense wind speed on certain days. This meant that we had to go through each scene and record dubs of the lines spoken by each character. This process didn't take up too much time but it was tedious, we had written down each line that needed to be recorded and we asked our actors to say the line in time with the footage of the scenes. This recording session worked out really well as our actors delivered accurate responses that stayed true to the character's original intentions. We used a field recorder microphone on a tripod to capture the audio. We wrapped a tea towel around the mic to reduce any wind and background noise. Voices turned out to be clear and understandable. All that is left to do is to add these recordings back into the film.

Arrival Movie Poster Inspiration

Image
To attract audiences to watch your film, many marketing practices are used to promote the film. To market our film, we are creating a poster that will show what the film will involve whilst also looking attractive and atmospheric. This is the poster for the film arrival. This film is about the arrival of aliens to earth and the process of asking the question "What is your purpose here?" The film is a Sci-Fi Thriller and I think this poster does a great job at representing the general atmosphere of the film. The poster takes place in the location that most of the film is set in. The imagery of the location shows the alien spaceship in the centre with a helicopter flying towards the spaceship. By using the "Z rule" we can see that the poster shows all of it's most important information and imagery in accordance to this rule. The actor's names appear at the top and this allows the viewer to see who is in the film first before they read the rest of the poste...
