Filming The Ferryman's Home

We filmed the scene in which the Ferryman has to get ready for work. We did this scene as the weather for the day was terrible. This indoor scene went really well as there was no problems while filming. This scene had complex elements such as the ellipsis we planned to implement but everything and everyone worked well. We had to record audio of the kettle boiling and water pouring. We also made a fake Linkedin profile for the ferryman to be displayed on his laptop screen although it is hard to see in the final shots of the laptop.

Recording Audio

Image
Most of the audio in River was unusable, this was due to the immense wind speed on certain days. This meant that we had to go through each scene and record dubs of the lines spoken by each character. This process didn't take up too much time but it was tedious, we had written down each line that needed to be recorded and we asked our actors to say the line in time with the footage of the scenes. This recording session worked out really well as our actors delivered accurate responses that stayed true to the character's original intentions. We used a field recorder microphone on a tripod to capture the audio. We wrapped a tea towel around the mic to reduce any wind and background noise. Voices turned out to be clear and understandable. All that is left to do is to add these recordings back into the film.
